Birth

Noted in the family history and on the McDonnell family tree.

Description

Neil became ill sometime after these photos were taken. He was hospitalized and survived a very high fever, but there was irreversible brain and developmental damage from which he never recovered.

Death

noted in the family history: no source mentioned

Note

Neil was completely disabled following a serious illness with a high fever when he was a baby. There were negatives, unprinted, of an alert baby sitting in a bouncy chair at something less than a year who looked very much a Prendergast. There are no known printed photographs of Neil.

He died in childhood, but we don't have an exact date. Helen Prendergast (Gariepy) believed he lived to be nine or ten years old and was always cared for by his mother and the household help.
